About Us
We are an Argentine organization dedicated to the development, study, and clinical implementation of cancer therapies based on electroporation, with a special focus on electrochemotherapy.
Building on the convergence of scientific research and medical practice, GEM was founded to provide patients with advanced, effective, and internationally validated treatments for skin cancer and other tumors.
Mission and Purpose
As a leading institution in Latin America, our goal is to translate biomedical innovation into clinical practice by offering safe, precise, and scientifically validated therapeutic alternatives. We work closely with patients, referring physicians, clinics, hospitals, and private health insurance providers to integrate electroporation technologies into the available treatment options.
What We Offer
At GEM, we combine clinical care, research, teaching, and technology transfer. Our work includes:
- Assessment of referred patients and support throughout their treatment and follow-up.
- Institutional implementation of electrochemotherapy as a complementary or second-line therapy.
- Medical training and technical support for professionals and institutions looking to adopt the procedure.
- Scientific and technological consulting for the adoption of equipment approved by ANMAT.
- Scientific research and dissemination through publications, conferences, and national and international partnerships.
Our Treatments
Electrochemotherapy is a treatment that combines anticancer drugs with controlled electrical pulses to enhance the penetration of the medication into tumor cells. This approach increases the local efficacy of treatment, reduces adverse effects, and preserves healthy tissue. It is particularly useful for skin cancer, cutaneous and subcutaneous tumors, complex lesions, and situations where conventional treatments do not yield adequate results or result in significant functional or cosmetic consequences.
Medical Direction and Scientific Support
GEM is composed of physicians, researchers, engineers, and professionals from various disciplines, under the leadership of Dr. Felipe Maglietti, a medical oncologist, CONICET researcher, and Director of the Barceló Institute for Translational Research (InBIT). His pioneering work enabled Argentina to become the first country in Latin America to incorporate electrochemotherapy as a standard treatment, establishing a model of medical innovation with a direct impact on patients’ quality of life.
Medical Team
Our team is made up of professionals from a variety of disciplines, including specialists in electroporation, plastic surgery, dermatology, gynecology, anesthesiology, nutrition, and other key areas of medicine.
This integration of knowledge allows us to approach each case with a comprehensive, rigorous perspective focused on providing the best clinical care.

Mission
To promote the development, research, and clinical implementation of therapies that bridge the gap between innovation and medical practice, thereby helping to improve patients' quality of life.
Vision
To be the leading provider of electroporation-based therapies in Latin America, fostering collaboration among medical institutions, research centers, and public and private organizations.
Values
Innovation | Applied science | Medical ethics | Continuing education | Social impact.
Endorsements and Certifications
Dr. Felipe Maglietti has been internationally recognized for his contributions to the development of electroporation-based therapies. Among his honors is the “Justin Teissie” Award, presented by the International Society of Electroporation-Based Technologies and Treatments, and the Balseiro Institute Award for the project with the greatest social impact.
In addition, he is the author of a patent for a method of treating deep-seated tumors using electroporation technologies.
